Cheltenham BID has announced that chief executive Francesca Inman will step down at the end of September 2026 after accepting an opportunity overseas.

Having joined the organisation in May 2024 from Bristol BIDs and North Somerset Council, the CEO has confirmed she will remain in post throughout her notice period while the Cheltenham BID board recruits her successor and oversees a smooth handover.

During her two years leading Cheltenham BID, she oversaw the successful renewal ballot for the organisation's third five-year term, securing continued investment in Cheltenham's town centre until 2031. She also helped strengthen partnerships across the public and private sectors, expand business engagement and secure additional external funding for town centre projects.

The organisation has said recent initiatives have included enhanced cleansing programmes, public engagement on the future of Cheltenham High Street and Promenade, and a renewed focus on delivering visible value for the BID's levy-paying businesses.

When she first took up the role, Francesca told SoGlos she wanted to strengthen strategic partnerships, champion local businesses and help ensure Cheltenham remained a leading destination for residents, visitors and investors.

Reflecting on her time at Cheltenham BID, Francesca said: 'It has been a privilege to lead Cheltenham BID and work alongside such a passionate, ambitious and supportive business community.

'Cheltenham is a very special place, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. I leave knowing the BID has a dedicated team, an engaged board and strong partnerships that will continue to deliver for businesses across the town.

Chair of Cheltenham BID, Alex Rose, thanked her for her contribution. He said: 'On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Fran for her leadership, commitment and energy over the past two years. She has built strong relationships across the town, helped position Cheltenham BID for a successful third term and leaves the organisation in a strong position for the future.

'While we are naturally sorry to see her go, this is a fantastic opportunity for Fran, and we wish her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter overseas.'

Earlier this year, Francesca was recognised in SoGlos's pioneering female-led Gloucestershire businesses hot list, celebrating influential women helping to shape the county's business community.

Cheltenham BID said the board has already begun planning its next phase of leadership and will commence recruitment for a new chief executive shortly.

The organisation said it remains focused on delivering the priorities agreed with levy-paying businesses and continuing to build a vibrant, welcoming and prosperous town centre.
