While it’s been helping construction firms keep working during the pandemic, Gloucestershire-based GetOnSite has managed to build its own business too – growing by an astonishing 500 per cent.

Moving the health and safety induction process online has become a necessity for many firms, particularly in the construction sector, as they seek to comply with health and safety regulations and keep operating through the pandemic.

Which is where Cirencester-based software company, GetOnSite, has come into its own, seeing demand reach record levels.

‘Construction is often criticised by being too slow to react to situations but with COVID-19 we have seen the opposite,’ said founder and director, Sarah Fenwick, who launched software provider in 2015.

‘Our clients have been quick to put procedures in place to safely keep their sites open. We have seen a huge increase in enquiries from companies wanting to move their inductions online as soon as possible – some in just 24 hours.’

She added: ‘This is most definitely a permanent shift in working practices and feedback has always been – ‘why haven’t we moved online earlier’.

‘We expect more companies to embrace technological solutions this year.’

GetOnSite’s online systems replace the need for manual, labour-intensive inductions when contractors arrive on site.

According to the firm it has delivered more than 33,000 inductions online in the last 12 months, helping save more than 60 weeks of site managers’ time and £370,000 of inductees’ costs.

The paperless process is also said to have saved more than 16 tonnes of carbon.
