GE Aviation has been awarded the Best Performer accolade for supply chain and quality improvement by industry leader Airbus.

The award recognises the company’s avionics team for a sustained and strong continuous performance, as well as a customer-oriented approach, throughout 2019.

Working closely with Airbus, the team supplies datalink control and display units for the Airbus A320 and A330 – having delivered over 12,000 units since 1996, with the parts produced at its factory in Bishop’s Cleeve.

Providing a transparent and collaborative approach, GE Aviation shares a portal with Airbus which shows real-time data including the status of on-time delivery, shipments, quality, invoicing and returns.

Airbus is also given an insight into GE Aviation’s business improvement plan – with a risk section dedicated to the early identification of external factors that may disrupt the supply chain, allowing both parties to work together in mitigating potential issues before they become significant.

Alan Caslavka, president of avionics for GE Aviation, said: ‘We have a strong collaborative relationship with Airbus that demands high standards in shipping quality product on time and consistently.

‘This award recognises the entire team for maintaining a customer-focused approach, while acting quickly to resolve any issues.’
