Luxury New York fashion and lifestyle brand, Kate Spade, is opening its first standalone store in Gloucestershire.

The new store is due to open at Cotswolds Designer Outlet just in time for Christmas shopping – and is currently recruiting for staff.

The American fashion house was founded in 1993 and is especially known for its iconic handbags that are frequently spotted on the arm of Hollywood stars and are sold around the world.

While working as an accessories editor at Mademoiselle in New York, Kate Brosnahan Spade was frequently frustrated at not being able to find handbags that blended being fashionable with also being useful, for both glossy magazine photoshoots, and also for her own use.

She set out to design the perfect one – and launched her eponymous business with a debut collection of six handbags. The label has now become a global lifestyle brand, broadening its scope to also encompass womenswear, shoes, accessories including jewellery, and home decor.

The Kate Spade aesthetic is all about modern sophistication and chic, polished ease, embracing the joy and power of colour.

Cotswolds Designer Outlet’s new Kate Spade store joins other globally recognised brands including Boss, Guess, Adidas, Reiss, Hobbs and Molton Brown, giving visitors a curated mix of premium and aspirational fashion and accessories labels alongside contemporary and popular lifestyle and homeware brands.

Centre manager Adrian Field said: ‘Kate Spade is a welcome addition to Cotswolds Designer Outlet, further strengthening our premium brand offering and giving our shoppers even more choice.

‘The recent arrivals of Sunglass Hut and Molton Brown this summer have also complemented our existing mix beautifully, helping us to create a destination that appeals to both our affluent local audience and the strong tourism market we serve.

‘With our prime location at the gateway to the Cotswolds, we’re perfectly placed to offer visitors the opportunity to discover sought-after brands at exceptional outlet prices, alongside a relaxed and enjoyable experience.’

Kate Spade at Cotswolds Designer Outlet is due to open in November 2026, but the date is yet to be announced.
