As one of the oldest street fairs in the country, Tewkesbury Mop Fair is thought to date back to the medieval era, when, following the Black Death, people looking for work would take to the streets with their tools during Statute hiring fairs, or 'Mops', to find a new employer.
While the name remains, these days the Mop Fair is no longer about getting a job, it's a family day out to bring the community together for a weekend of wholesome fun.
