Award-winning comedian, writer and broadcaster, Dom Joly, is releasing a brand-new hidden camera comedy show, 25 years after his cult hit Trigger Happy TV made him a household name.
Dom has once again teamed up with Trigger Happy TV co-creator, Sam Cadman, for the show. The pair initially started filming sketches for the national Trigger Happy TV 25th anniversary tour, but after nine months of filming, they ended up with more material than the tour needed, and so Mugwuffin was born.
With brand-new characters, including the Crypto King of Dubai, the Good News Energy Bear, Biohacker, Goth Poet and Bowie Bore, plus an updated version of the famous giant phone, just like Trigger Happy TV, many of the people featured don't necessarily know they're part of a comedy show.
Filmed in Cheltenham, London, and other locations across the UK, Mugwuffin promises a modern take on the hugely popular Trigger Happy TV formula, but is definitively not Trigger Happy TV 2.
The show is available exclusively to subscribers via a straight-to-consumer platform, managed by The Gold Studios, bypassing broadcasters and streaming platforms entirely, allowing Dom and Sam to 'make the show we actually want to make without having to squeeze it into somebody else’s idea of what television should be.'
A Mugwuffin subscription costs £1 per week and there's a new episode and extra material each week for subscribers – and crucially, the revenue made from subscription fees goes back into creating more episodes of the show.
