The multi-award winning Netflix show Sex Education, which is filmed in the Forest of Dean, has finally announced when season four is due to be released — and there's not too long left to wait.
Netflix announced that the fourth season is due to drop in September 2023 and will be the last one in the series.
Sex Education features The Chalet in Symonds Yat as a filming location, with the distinctive red and white Scandi-inspired house providing the setting for Jean and Otis Milburn's home.
Season four sees the students of Moordale Secondary facing a new challenge as they join the uber progressive Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis faces his fears about setting up a new clinic when he's no longer the only therapist at school — or the only kid at home; Eric hopes they won't be seen as losers again; while over in the US, Maeve is living her best life at Wallace University.
Alongside Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood and Emma Mackey, season four will also feature Emmy award-winner and Schitt's Creek star, Dan Levy; Doctor Who actress Thaddea Graham; model and actress Jodie Turner-Smith; and comedian Eshaan Akbar.
Series creator, Laurie Nunn, also revealed in a letter to fans that Sex Education season four will be the last, saying: 'Writing this feels bittersweet as we've decided the fourth season will also be the final instalment of our show. This was not an easy decision to make, but as the themes and stories of the new season crystallised, it became clear that this was the right time to graduate.
'We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, cast and crew who put so much heart into making every episode. They have worked tirelessly to bring you this final season and we can't wait to share it with you.'
The fourth and final season of Sex Education is due to be released on Netflix on Thursday 21 September 2023.
