The Barn Theatre’s Private Peaceful moves to the West End

The Barn Theatre in Cirencester is sending its production of Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful to the West End. It will be one of the first new productions to be staged indoors in London since the government closed theatres in March.

After a successful run at The Barn Theatre, Simon Reade’s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s bestseller is taking to the Garrick Theatre stage.

One of the first new shows to be performed on a West End stage since lockdown began has been homegrown in Gloucestershire – with The Barn Theatre’s production of Private Peaceful transferring to London in November 2020.

The Cirencester theatre’s production of Michael Morpurgo’s bestselling novel Private Peaceful will travel to the Bristol Old Vic from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 October 2020, before going on to London’s West End with a run at the Garrick Theatre from Saturday 7 to Sunday 22 November 2020.


The critically acclaimed play stars Emily Costello, who plays the eponymous Private Tommo Peaceful, and was the first live indoor performance at the Barn Theatre after it reopened.
