Having been vacant for more than five years, 102-104 on Cheltenham High Street, which was formerly occupied by Sports Direct, is getting a brand-new occupant — The Eagle Social Tap — as the Amber Taverns chain transforms the empty premises into a buzzing new venue.
Currently undergoing refurbishment, the new hub promises 'to be a lively and inviting space for all', providing 20 new jobs and offering a contemporary and cosy interior designed for comfort and enjoyment; an extensive selection of drinks, including craft beers, fine wines, and inventive cocktails; as well as a warm and friendly atmosphere with excellent service.
What's more, the ground floor will also feature a self-contained, soundproofed karaoke area — ideal if you're missing Pyesta's Filipino restaurant and karaoke bar!
The chain currently operates 165 public houses across England, Scotland, and Wales — including 'The Doctors' in nearby Gloucester.
Passionate about public houses and the communities that it serves, rather than just purchasing existing pubs, Amber Taverns invests heavily in restoring and creating new premises that are often in conservation areas or listed buildings — this includes promoting any unique selling points concerning the previous role of the building.
It also provides a special agreement for its venue operators, where all its licensees are incentivised to develop the business: 'We don’t interfere or tell people how to run their business but we do build strong business relationships with our pub operators and help them to celebrate their own success, but at the same time we do offer substantial support.'
Regarding its latest Cheltenham venture, the brand said: 'We’re eagerly anticipating the grand opening and look forward to sharing this new destination with the Cheltenham community.
'Keep an eye on our website and follow us on social media for updates and sneak previews as we get closer to the big day.'
While an official opening date is yet to be confimed, the new venue is expected to open in early 2025.
