With the sun in the sky and the easing of some lockdown restrictions meaning we can now meet up to six people or two households outside, there couldn’t be a better time to get outdoors for a bite to eat.

With this in mind, Gloucester BID has teamed up with Visit Gloucester to highlight some of the very best spots in Gloucester for an urban picnic.

Visit Gloucester has compiled a list of some of the best spots in the city to enjoy alfresco dining, while Gloucester BID have been highlighting local venues for you to stock up on picnic essentials as well as creating a map featuring all of the urban picnic spots along with nearby toilets.

So, whether you want to sit back and relax with your Farmhouse Deli sausage baguette in Gloucester Park; take your pepperoni Hooker & Eight pizza to Gloucester Cathedral’s peaceful grounds; visit hidden medieval churchyards with a Jane’s Pantry snail bun; or even head to the wide-open spaces of Gloucester Docks for a Bangkok Canteen lunchtime treat, there are so many serene spaces in Gloucester to sit back, relax and enjoy an urban picnic.

What’s more, if you’re enjoying an urban picnic in the city, share your pictures on social media with the hashtag #urbanpicnicinglos, tagging @VisitGloucester and @gloucester_BID – and explore the hashtag yourself for further city eating inspo!
