How Stroud Brewery is inspiring positive change in the community

With its taproom being at the heart of the community, Stroud Brewery does so much more than just brewing exceptional organic beer — with its mission to inspire positive change by bringing people together at its inspiring headquarters.

Stroud Brewery isn't just brewing organic beer, it's cultivating community spirit, too.

As well as brewing award-winning organic beer, Stroud Brewery is on a mission to 'bring people together to inspire positive change'.

Its highly-prized B Corp status is testament to its commitment to people and the planet, but as well as looking after its own, Stroud Brewery is also looking out for its community.

On National Beer Day in June 2023, it launched its free Sustainability in Pubs guide, sharing 10 practical ways local publicans and hospitality businesses can start working towards sustainability, with advice on everything from lowering energy and water bills to sourcing produce from local suppliers, with all its tips based on the knowledge it's gained on its own sustainability journey over the last 17 years.

Its family- and dog-friendly taproom also acts as a community hub for people in Stroud, too.

As well as social events like live music and comedy nights, board game meet-ups and pub quizzes, it also offers people the chance to meet their local councillor and voice their concerns; attend employment and skills drop-in sessions; take part in fitness and dance classes; network with local professionals and businesspeople throughout the week at its co-working sessions; and learn new skills at community craft clubs like its Wild Woolly Women knitting group — with SoGlos highlighting 14 fun things to do at the venue, which aren't just drinking beer

Food plays a vital part in its offering too, with its menu containing a wide variety of dishes all made using the very best locally sourced organic ingredients.

With the aim of bringing people together around the table and combatting loneliness in the area, the taproom also hosts a regular over-50s lunch table which invites locals aged 50 and up to enjoy a sociable meal together, encouraging single people especially to come along; while the social table for dads, mums, bumps, carers, grandparents and babies encourages families of all shapes, sizes and set-ups to get together over coffee, cake or lunch while little ones enjoy some playtime together.

Aimee Freeman from Stroud Brewery said: 'At the Stroud Brewery bar and venue we seek to develop and share the best we can be and engineer opportunities to grow our community. It is our motley crew of innovators, enablers, artists, gastro creators and social groovers and their disruptive ideas and enthusiasm which makes Stroud Brewery the company we are today.

'We create classic styles with a unique flourish using the finest organic ingredients from farming which has a positive effect in the planet. Its not a pub, its not a restaurant, its not an altar to beer — its a relaxed no frills place to meet people, that sells great food, coffee, teas, cakes as well as fabulous organic beer.'

The Stroud Brewery taproom is open from 10am until 11pm every day of the week on Kingfisher Business Estate in Stroud.

Walk-ins are always welcome, but bookings are encouraged to guarantee a table.
