Sushi lovers will be delighted that one of Cheltenham’s favourite Japanese restaurants, KIBOUsushi, is expanding – moving into the former Carluccio’s restaurant a few doors away on Regent Street.

Carluccio’s in Cheltenham closed its doors permanently during lockdown, but work has already begun to transform the former Italian restaurant into the bigger, new KIBOUsushi.

Offering handcrafted sushi and Japanese hot kitchen dishes like homemade ramen, katsu curry and teriyaki, KIBOUsushi has won various awards, including restaurant of the year in the SoGlos Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards 2019. It has also been nominated again for the 2020 awards.

The current KIBOUsushi is open on a takeaway-only basis and will close on Saturday 15 August 2020. While no opening date has been confirmed for the new KIBOUsushi just yet, a staff member confirmed that the move to the new site will see KIBOUsushi dramatically expand its capacity, allowing more customers to dine in – with entrances into the restaurant from both Regent Street and within Regent Arcade due to open ‘VERY soon’.

News of KIBOUsushi Cheltenham’s move follows the opening of KIBOU London in Battersea on Saturday 4 July 2020.
