Cheltenham has a brand-new independent coffee shop, with popular Bristol coffee company, Society Café, opening its latest venue in the town.

The new café is located in the former India Jane furniture shop on Ormond Place and offers speciality coffee, pastries and cakes, as well as smoothies and loose leaf tea.

With floor to ceiling windows, the interior is light and airy with rustic furniture and colourful murals on the walls. Spread over two floors, there's plenty of space for meeting friends, enjoying a quiet coffee or working remotely.

Speciality coffee is the order of the day, with two espresso blends on offer – including the house blend from Origin Coffee Roasters in Cornwall and a regularly changing guest blend – and a friendly and knowledgeable team who are passionate about serving really good quality coffee, made well.

Visitors can also pick up locally-baked goods from Cheltenham-based Six Chimneys Bakery.

The independently-run Society Café already has two venues in Bath, one in Bristol and one in Oxford, with the Cheltenham coffee shop being its first venue in Gloucestershire - and it hopes to become an integral part of the coffee community in the town, already building relationships with local favourites The Coffee Dispensary, The Scandinavian Coffee Pod and Ritual Coffee Roasters.

It also hopes the Cheltenham venue will follow suit with its Bristol café, with plans to host events such as live music gigs, comedy nights and barista competitions in the future.

Owner Adrian Campbell-Howard previously ran The Dial House in Bourton-on-the-Water and said opening a café in Cheltenham felt like 'coming home'.

Society Café is open from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday on Ormond Place in Cheltenham.
