In a nutshell

Taking the SoGlos team of nervous novices through their paces, Fluid Pilates Bootcamp proved to be a hit, with the promise of becoming Pilates pros in no time at all.

The review

Super chic setting

Bringing a slice of London’s fitness scene to Cheltenham, Fluid Pilates Bootcamp oozes hip city vibes, complete with exposed brick walls and subtle lighting.

Met with the warmest welcome from owner and instructor Lou, any nervous reservations were soon gone as Lou’s infectious enthusiasm had us raring to get started as we made our way into the studio.

Fitted with the latest reformer Pilates machines, we headed to our stations – luckily, with plenty of expert advice from Lou on how to make our machine comfortable – and we were off, with some motivational music to get us in the mood.

Putting us through our paces

Promising a thorough workout for the whole body, we lay back on our reformers as Lou lead us through the first of our moves, lengthening our bodies, testing our glutes and working on those killer pins we’re all after.

Perfect for any Pilates novices, or those who are a little nervous, the class combines breathing techniques with core-strengthening and working each muscle group in turn, giving you little time to look at anyone else – or more importantly, for them to look at you.

With our pins positively burning, Lou’s love for the form of Pilates proves to be the perfect formula for a truly enjoyable class, as we tried not to wobble and concentrated on steadying our bodies, with plenty of opportunities to laugh along too.

Pilates pros?

Whilst calling ourselves Pilates pros may be a little premature, we’ve certainly got the bug as our session whizzed by in no time at all.

Switching the exercises up to work everything from our abs and glutes to arms and hamstrings, the beginners’ class is the perfect solution for gym boredom or those who get tired of doing the same thing.

Incorporating resistance rings, weight training, core exercises and the ultimate trendy setting, it’s fair to say we’re hooked and will definitely be heading back for more.
