Cleeve Hill has made a list of top dog walking locations in England.

Cleeve Hill near Cheltenham has been named one of England's best dog walking hotspots by pet experts from PDSA Vets and PDSA Pet Insurance.

Already a firm favourite with local dog owners, this popular beauty spot is the only Gloucestershire location to make the list of six best dog walks in the country.

Not only the tallest peak of the Cotswold hills but the highest point in Gloucestershire, Cleeve Hill offers walking trails for all abilities, from steep inclines to rolling meadows and woodland — as well as the opportunity to pick up the 102-mile Cotswold Way and plenty for pups to explore along the way.

The National Trails route which wins Cleeve Hill a place on the list is a six-mile circular route, described as 'moderate' with uphill sections but no stiles, which is good news for dog walkers.

However, with free-roaming livestock along the trail, it's recommended that dogs are kept on a lead.

With just six dog walking locations on the list, the south west stands out as a top region for walking with four-legged friends, with walks in Paignton, Cheddar Gorge and the North Devon coastline also mentioned.
