Gloucester’s Christmas shoppers are getting an early gift – parking at Kings Walk and Eastgate Shopping Centre is free every Thursday until Christmas 2021.

The offer ties in with late-night shopping on Thursdays in Gloucester, with free parking available all day and into the evening at both car parks.

There are over 600 spaces between Kings Walk and Eastgate Shopping Centre – with Gloucester being recently named as one of the top 10 places in the country for accessible parking by a national survey, too.

Gloucester BID and Gloucester City Council are funding the free parking offer on Thursdays to encourage people to shop local this Christmas and support Gloucester’s wonderful independent shops, restaurants, cafés and bars.

And to support Small Business Saturday on Saturday 4 December 2021, Gloucester City Council is also offering free parking on Westgate Street, Station Road and Hare Lane North on that day too.

Councillor Hannah Norman, cabinet member for performance and resources at Gloucester City Council, said: ‘We want to do all we can to help city centre businesses and we hope this initiative will encourage people to come into the city and support local retailers and independents who rely on their custom.’

Libby Austen-Foley, co-owner and manager of independent shop Idun Spirit, said: ‘We’re so pleased Gloucester Council have approved free Thursday parking again for December. It made a huge difference to footfall last year let’s hope it does the same again this year.’
