Flying the flag for Gloucestershire in The BBC Food and Farm Awards 2018, Severn & Wye Smokery’s onsite shop, The Barn, has been named as a finalist in the Best Shop or Market category.

Following a three-year renovation project, The Barn was opened in 2017, and is home to a café and restaurant, as well as an impressive food store complete with colourful fish counter, delicatessen and gift shop.

Severn & Wye Smokery’s culinary director, Greg Nicholson, revealed his delighted surprise to make it through to the national finalists, saying it was ‘very humbling’ to be shortlisted in the prestigious awards.

‘Thrilled’ at the news, Greg praised the dedicated team of staff and their contribution to create a unique space and concept that’s gone from strength to strength – with the ‘definite wow factor’.

The family-run business is up against the Peace & Loaf Bakery in Cumbria, and Brighton farm shop, The Sussex Peasant. The judging process will see Severn & Wye visited by a pair of judges, with the winners to be announced in May 2018.
