SoGlos has won the judge’s highly commended recognition in the prestigious AOP Awards 2024.

An outstanding highlight in SoGlos’s 17-year history, the Gloucestershire media brand has won ‘highly commended’ recognition in the 2024 AOP Awards — for Best Online Consumer Media Brand in the UK.

Coming a ‘close second' to 165-year-old media giant The Telegraph Media Group — and beating the other two category finalists, Good Food Magazine and Radio Times  — the judges' highly commended recognition is an incredible achievement, particularly as SoGlos was the only regional title from the only independent publisher in the running.

The AOP Digital Publishing Awards Jury includes digital industry leaders from companies including News UK, Time Out Media, Mail Metro Media, Newsquest, Emap Publishing, Immediate Media Co, Reach PLC, Conde Nast, Bauer Media and Google, and according to the judges SoGlos was ‘very close’ to winning the award — with the judges commenting: 'They hit the brief perfectly, showing how all local publishing should be delivered.'

Michelle Fyrne, SoPublishing’s CEO, said: ‘The annual awards from the Association of Online Publishers recognises the stars of the digital media world and it is an incredible honour to be shortlisted — never mind win the highly commended recognition — amongst such exceptionally talented competition.

'SoGlos being identified as one of the best of the best brands in the UK media industry is incredible recognition for the energy, passion and diligent contribution of the whole SoGlos team — with business success, audience growth and team development and expansion particularly accelerating in the past two years, with SoGlos undergoing a huge rebrand, significant ongoing investment and a more tech-first focus on our scalable future.

SoPublishing’s managing director James Fyrne added: ‘We have incredibly ambitious plans for the next two years and the AOP recognition really gives us the industry validation that we are on the right track.’

All the winners and highly commended finalists were revealed at the AOP Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 12 June 2024 at Old Billingsgate in London.
