Eddie Edwards, Cheltonian and Olympic ski-jumper, caused a media sensation 30 years ago when he competed as the underdog in the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.

Running at the Everyman Theatre from Thursday 23 to Saturday 25 May 2019, Fly Eddie Fly tells Eddie’s heart-warming story and features the man himself making his stage debut as the play’s narrator.

Until Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards came along in 1988, complete with milk-bottle glasses and a couple of sizes too big ski boots, Great Britain had never before had an Olympic ski jumper.

Despite coming in last place, and failing to qualify for subsequent competitions, Eddie captured the world’s imagination and most recently inspired Hollywood blockbuster Eddie The Eagle starring Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman.

Presented by The Everyman Theatre Company, Everyman Youth Theatre and Everyman Community Choirs, Fly Eddie Fly is a feel good comedy sure to inspire and delight its audiences.
