What is the plot of The Shawshank Redemption?

Based on the hit novel by King, the story follows Andy Dufresne after he is handed a double life sentence for brutal murders that he denies doing – and his unlikely friendship with the prison fixer, Red. 

 

Examining the same desperation, injustice, friendship and hope as the original story, audiences can expect a remarkable performance, packed with action – displaying just how dehumanising prison can be. 

Who is starring in The Shawshank Redemption? 

The cast features esteemed actor Joe McFadden as Andy, whose career has seen him star in shows such as ​Holby City ​and ​Heartbeat, starring alongside Ben Onwukwe, who boasts a 30-year stage career including leading roles with the RSC and Royal Court, as Red.
