Oh help! Oh no! It's a Gruffalo! Help celebrate his 25th birthday this February 2024 with a brand-new trail for little explorers at Westonbirt Arboretum.

To celebrate 25 years of the much-loved book by Julia Donaldson, The Gruffalo, families can set off on an adventure leading them through the woods at Westonbirt Arboretum.

Opening Saturday 10 February 2024, this brand-new forest adventure takes children and their families through the interactive trail, spotting items along the way which will help the scariest creature in the wood celebrate his birthday.

There are games and activities along the trail, as well as opportunities for kids to learn about the forest and the animals that live in it — even the ones that don't have knobbly knees, turned out toes and purple prickles all over their backs!

Kids can pick up a Gruffalo party trail pack from the Westonbirt shop, which includes everything you need to celebrate his 25th birthday — including a keepsake sew-on Gruffalo patch.

Located near Tetbury, Westonbirt is the second Gloucestershire location for the Gruffalo Trail, with the other found in Beechenhurst in the Forest of Dean, which has been open since January 2024.

Aimed at children aged between three and nine, the trail is 1.2 miles long and little legs should be able to get round in about an hour and a half.

The trail is free to complete and is open daily from 9am to 4.30pm, with last admission at 4pm. Activity packs available from the Westonbirt shop for £4.
