The annual El-ver Eating Competition is back on Sunday 11 September 2022, as part of the spectacular Frampton Country Fair.

Reviving a local tradition, the competition will challenge contestants to eat a plateful of two-inch-long eel-shaped fish, in the quickest time.

After a shortage of eels put a halt on proceedings for four decades, the competition made a triumphant comeback in 2015 with a sustainable Spanish alternative, made from surimi. The replacement is affectionately known as el-vers.

There’s plenty more to see and do throughout the day, too, with a farmers’ market, various shows and children’s activities also taking place at Frampton Country Fair.
