Who doesn’t love a sweet treat every now and then? Gloucestershire is packed full of wonderful desserts and indulgent puddings to delve into, and we’ve picked out our favourites. From waffles and pancakes, to chocolate challenges and ice cream sundaes, sometimes, you just have to treat yourself!

1. Hotel Chocolat Gloucester Quays

Newly opened Hotel Chocolat at Gloucester Quays is serving up all the chocolatey goodness at its café, providing the ultimate indulgent treat for those with a sweet tooth! Try its cocoa whip – a light, deliciously creamy chocshake… it’s what dreams are made of.

2. He Says She Waffles in Cirencester

Hidden away in Cirencester town centre lies a haven of golden waffles, sweet toppings and all the delicious treats one could ever ask for. The chocolate brownie waffle is divine, while the hazelnut waffle with chocolate sauce is certainly feast for the taste buds. Or perhaps the banana, Nutella, and M&M waffle will take your fancy? With so many options, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

3. Smokey Joe’s in Cheltenham

The king of eccentric dining, Smokey Joe’s in Cheltenham just had to be included in this hot list with its unicorn hot chocolate. Topped with cream, marshmallows, and even a rainbow sweetie – it’s sure to satisfy any sweet cravings! The café also offers decadent ice cream sundaes and desserts – waffle sharing platter, anyone?

4. Bill’s in Cheltenham

Bill’s restaurant totally smashes it with its dessert menu. A particular favourite of ours is the chocolate and hazelnut praline sphere; topped with salted caramel ice cream, the sphere is deliciously indulgent, with hazelnut mousse and chocolate sauce – adding that extra spot of luxury.

5. Malthouse Bar and Kitchen in Stroud

Irresistibly decadent, Malthouse Bar and Kitchen’s infamous freakshakes are awesome – towering high with cream, chocolate, brownies, strawberries… you name it, they’ve probably put it in a freakshake!
The menu has something for everyone, with options including peanut butter, strawberries and cream, honey, crunchie and caramel shortbread. But a word of warning – these freakshakes aren’t for the faint hearted!

6. Huffkins in Cheltenham

Huffkins has a number of tearooms across the county, including on Cheltenham’s Promenade and inside the town’s John Lewis store. Serving up tasty cakes and pastries, it’s the perfect spot to get your sugar fix. Carrot cakes; raspberry éclairs; lemon drizzle cakes; salted caramel shortcakes; and triple chocolate gateau slices line the countertops, filling the café with a gorgeously sweet aroma.

7. Café au Chocolat in Tewkesbury

Handmade chocolates. Need we say more? Celebrating all things chocolatey, Café au Chocolat in Tewkesbury is the ultimate place to go for sweet treats. If you’re up for the challenge, the café also offers three different indulgent chocolate challenges, which involves polishing off a platter of different treats… if you dare!

8. Creams Café in Cheltenham

Located in the Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham town centre, Creams Café’s puddings taste just as good as they look. With everything from crepes and waffles, to milkshakes and cookie dough, there are plenty of sweet options to choose from. Having just introduced its new vegan menu, there’s now even more to feast your eyes on.

9. Hetty’s Kitchen in Gloucester

Hetty’s Kitchen is a chocoholic’s dream. Its cake hatch in Gloucester offers freshly-baked goods and delicious treats. Yes, we’re talking legendary brownies and cakes, as well as scrumptious hot drinks to go. The perfect little spot to grab a quick treat, Hetty’s Kitchen it’s one to keep in mind when that chocolate craving kicks in!

10. Botanica Coffee Kitchen in Cheltenham

Nestled away in Cheltenham, this hidden gem is a must-visit for a mug of coffee and a slice of cake. Botanica is an Instagram-worthy haven of chocolatey and cakey goodness, with homemade brownies, pastries, and cruffins on the menu.

11. Brunch at Tewkesbury Park

If you’re going to do brunch, do it right! At Tewkesbury Park, you can feast on its chocolate fountain, dipping marshmallows, lollypops, doughnut balls, strawberries (and more!) into scrumptious melted chocolate. A great way to start the day, we think.

12. Wholly Gelato at Barhouse Farm

Serving ice cream all year round, Wholly Cow Gelato uses milk from cows reared at its onsite farm. Delicious flavours such as triple chocolate; Malteser Raspberry; Salted Caramel; and Lemon and Rose Mascarpone have all been big hits in the past, and you’re sure to be delighted no matter what’s on offer on the day you visit.

13. Yanto’s Pancake House in Gloucester

The ultimate sugar fix awaits at Yanto’s Pancake House in Gloucester. The first of its kind in the area, the venue offers a wonderful concoction of delicious pancakes, waffles and cakes. Perhaps you’ll opt for its Oreo and Raspberry crepe? Or maybe the banana, peanut butter and dark chocolate waffle will win you over? 14. School House Café in Cheltenham
