Lilian Faithfull Care’s Royal Court care home in Cheltenham has a brand-new dementia care wing.
Offering specialist dementia care and extra care for residents with additional needs, The Butterfly Wing promises to ‘bridge the gap between nursing and residential care’, according to the charity.
Unlike some other dementia care settings, The Butterfly Wing consists of six individual apartments set within the home, alongside a communal lounge, dining room and accessible gardens, making it ideal for people who need a quieter or less crowded space.
It also has its own dedicated team with higher staff levels, ensuring residents with dementia or other conditions with additional needs are able to receive one-to-one support.
The Butterfly Wing is Lilian Faithfull Care’s second extra care facility to open, after the continuing success of The Bluebell Suite at Faithfull House, which opened in 2017.
Director of care at Lilian Faithfull, Suzanne Booker, said: ‘The Butterfly Wing will allow freedom and choice for residents within its intimate and safe environment. Our care will be adapted to each person’s own preferences and routines, day and night.’
The opening of the new wing comes as Royal Court reaches its fifth anniversary as part of the Lilian Faithfull Care charity, with the state-of-the-art care home also having a bariatric suite; a respite care suite; and adapted apartments where couples can live together.
