But there's still plenty of business events happening in Gloucestershire — with the quieter month providing the ideal opportunity to attend coaching sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops, ready to hit the ground running again after the summer holidays. 

BID Networking with Sue Ryder in Cheltenham

Taking place at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice on Thursday 3 August 2023, this free networking afternoon will share the important work of Sue Ryder, with a tour of the grounds to learn about the history of one of Cheltenham's oldest buildings.

From 2.30pm to 4.30pm, attendees can also meet new business contacts, connect with others and speak to the BID team, while enjoying refreshments on the terrace. Tickets are free for Cheltenham BID levy payers, with a suggested charitable donation to Sue Ryder of £15 for non-levy paying businesses. Tickets are available via Eventbrite.

People, Planet, Pint: Sustainability Meetup in Stroud

For anyone interested in sustainability, whether you're a business owner, council worker, student or consultant, the Sustainability Meetup offers a relaxed space to share a pint of Stroud Brewery's award-winning organic beer, chat to industry experts and meet other like-minded individuals and businesses to swap ideas and collaborate.

Taking place on Wednesday 9 August 2023, this free event runs from 7.30pm to 10pm at the Stroud Brewery Taproom in the Kingfisher Business Park in Stroud. Tickets are available via Eventbrite.

Gloucestershire Young Professionals social event in Cheltenham

After a sold out launch event back in June, the Gloucestershire Young Professionals networking group is organising an August get together at The Botanist in Cheltenham's Brewery QuarterThe group is aimed at young business people who are just beginning, or are in the early stages of their careers, living and working in Gloucestershire.

In a fun social setting, the group has the chance to network, connect and meet other like-minded individuals in a friendly, safe and non-pressured environment. This month's social at The Botanist takes place on Thursday 10 August 2023, starting at 6pm. Tickets include prosecco on arrival and access to the attendee list and are available via Eventbrite, with a maximum of three people per business able to attend. 

How to Grow on Instagram and Meet New Customers workshop in Gloucester

In this free event hosted by Gloucester Growth Hub, Emma Hall, a local independent potter with an Instagram following of 60,000 — a large number of which are international — discusses all things social media.  

On Monday 14 August 2023 from 10am to 12pm, attendees can learn about Instagram and how its algorithm works; why to use reels; how to grow their followers and more. The free workshop is held at the Gloucester Growth Hub's headquarters at the Oxstalls Campus of the University of Gloucestershire. Tickets are available via the Growth Hub website.

Forest Traders August Networking Session in Cinderford

This new event is only in its second month but is already proving popular, with the Forest Traders monthly networking sessions inviting all businesses in the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas to pop in and say hello. The next meetup is on Tuesday 15 August 2023 from 8.30am to 9.30am and features a guest speaker running a workshop on brand awareness and why it's so important to a business, with refreshments available.

With the aim of forging new connections and catching up with old, these sessions are held at Rheola House, next to the town council offices in Cinderford. The first session is free to attend and costs £3 a month thereafter. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. 

Talk Property Brunch in Gloucester

In its first event aimed at property professionals based in Gloucester, Talk Business is hosting a networking session over brunch at the Severn & Wye Smokery in Westbury on-Severn.

Open to those working in the property sector, including estate agents, mortgage advisors, conveyancers, interior designers, architects and more, this month's networking chat takes places on Wednesday 16 August 2023 from 9.45am to 11.15am. Tickets are available from Eventbrite priced at £20 each including brunch.
