Key Gloucestershire business events for your diary in October 2022

Events aimed at inspiring, supporting, educating and celebrating business people across Gloucestershire continue aplenty through October, not least the SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards 2022. We list some of them here, in partnership with ReformIT.

Let's Talk About Race

Elonka Soros, a member of the University of Gloucestershire's council, is due to present this workshop for all – including businesses - entitled Let's Talk about Race.

Part of the university's Black History Month celebrations, the event will explore a range of topics to develop understanding of how to have conversations about race and racism.

The free, interactive workshop is taking place in Fullwood House on the university’s Park Campus in Cheltenham from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday 12 October 2022.

How to get more sales from screen, stage or social media

Danny Matthews is due to present this workshop at The Growth Hub in Cirencester aimed at helping business people get more from their social media presence.

From running a tattoo shop at 18 to becoming the first mortgage advisor to digitise the mortgage application process, Matthews is described as having a natural story-telling ability that he uses to solve real business problems with creative design and branding.

Aimed at micro and small business owners and due to take place at The Growth Hub, Royal Agricultural University, Stroud Road, Cirencester, GL7 6JR on Thursday 6 October from 10am to 1pm.

How to get the best out of yourself and your people

Aimed at anyone who wants to lead, manage and influence others more effectively, this one-on-one workshop is due to take place from 9am to noon on 11 October 2022.

Staged by The Growth Hub in Tewkesbury at its offices at Tewkesbury Borough Council, Gloucester Road, the event is aimed at helping you get more out of your staff and to become a better leader, motivator and communicator.

Opportunities for Stroud tradespeople in the eco-revolution

This event is billed as suitable for all Stroud trades who want to secure work now and into the future and is being staged by Refresh Renovations Gloucestershire, a design and retrofit company based in the town.

According to the business, eco-refurbishment is a growing market and is set to become mainstream in the near future with opportunities across construction. Due to take place on Wednesday 19 October at The Exchange, Brick Row, Stroud, GL5 1DF, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards

Unveiled at the end of 2020 in-line with SoGlos’s expansion to cover business in the county, the SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards set out to recognise and celebrate innovative start-ups through to the top 100 businesses in the county, boldly shaking up the traditional awards format with a fresh new approach.

Last year’s inaugural event proved a huge success and 2022 looks set to showcase even more of the county’s very best businesses, of all shapes and sizes, and the business people who run them.

Gloucestershire Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Business Networking Event

Some key-note speakers have points of focus which immediately capture the imagination and global rum ambassador Ian Burrell could just be one of those.

Founder of RumFest and described as ‘the tenth most influential person in the World Drinks industry’ by Drinks International, Burrell will be sharing his experience at the event which is both staged and hosted by the University of Gloucestershire’s equality, diversity and inclusion team.

Due to take place on Thursday 20 October 2022 from 10am to noon at the university’s Oxstalls Campus, Oxstalls Lane, Gloucester GL2 9HW.

How to solve any problem with your brand

Aimed at business owners and those who work in sales or marketing, this one-to-one is aimed at helping to solve business problems.

More specifically, it will look at marketing solutions that can help businesses to grow. The event will take place from 9am to noon on Tuesday 25 October at The Growth Hub at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, Stratford Road, Stroud, Gloucestershire, GL5 4AH.
