With Dame Judi Dench in conversation, a diverse selection of films and a focus on cinema from Ukraine, this year’s Cheltenham International Film Festival is not to be missed.

Cheltenham International Film Festival is bringing a diverse, thought-provoking and engaging programme of cinema to the town from Monday 23 May to Friday 3 June 2022.

Showcasing cinema from Hollywood blockbusters like The Queen, classic horror including Nosferatu and Vampyr to cutting-edge foreign films, the hybrid festival features a programme of both online and live events, taking place at venues including Cheltenham Playhouse, Parabola Arts Centre and TIVOLI Cinema.

As part of the festival, film lovers can enjoy an exclusive Afternoon with Dame Judi, where Oscar-winning actress and national treasure, Dame Judi Dench, will be in conversation with Sunday Times Culture’s Jonathan Dean at Pittville Pump Room on Thursday 26 May 2022.

The festival is also showing screenings of some of her most important films, including Shakespeare in Love, Notes on a Scandal and Philomena.

This year’s event also puts the spotlight on Ukraine, with live screenings of Olga and Rhino along with a Q&A session, as well as a screening of the poignant yet hopeful Reflection, which explores the human cost of war in the director’s home country.

Plus, there are screenings of the eight films in contention to win Best Film, Emerging Director at this year’s festival.

Tickets to individual screenings cost £12 or £5 for those under 25; online household tickets cost £12 to access online screenings from home; while festival passes cost from £30 each, with the festival adding extra credit to each pass purchased.

Tickets for An Afternoon with Dame Judi cost £50 each and can only be purchased via the Cheltenham Trust box office.
