Bamboo Technology Group Ltd, the Cheltenham headquartered IT and telecoms business, has announced it has bought Worcestershire firm TechTeam Limited.

Bamboo describes the move as ‘a key milestone in supporting its ongoing growth strategy’ and brings under its wing a firm which is a specialist in IT managed services.

The Gloucestershire group, which now has 70 staff, provides digital infrastructure for businesses and organisations, helping transform their IT and telecommunications and protect their data.

Lorrin White, chief executive officer of Bamboo, said: ‘We are now uniquely positioned to educate and inform a broad audience of businesspeople so that they can confidently connect and grow.

‘This latest acquisition promises to be a game changer for Bamboo.’

TechTeam, founded in 2006 by its chief executive officer James Green, is described as ‘a customer focused technology business with expertise in the small to mid-market’.

Green said: ‘We are looking forward to working together to create opportunities for growth and development in products, services, customer base, skills sets and careers.’

Since the acquisition of Cheltenham-based Tech Op Solutions in 2019, Bamboo has become one of the region’s best-known ICT managed services firms serving the cyber and technology communities.

The Bamboo group’s niche software development capabilities have also seen it included in the government’s Crown Commercial Service’s Technology Services 3 Framework, which provides businesses and organisations with a list of approved firms.

‘We will look back on 2021 as a year in which we forged ahead, developing and heightening our strategic positioning and skill sets.

‘We hope that 2022 will enable us to realise the full growth potential of all the hard yards the team have put in over the last 18 months,’ said White.
