Cheltenham Borough Council says the building has the potential to be transformed into an ‘innovative landmark’ that will help improve the townscape.

Former public toilets at the corner of Ambrose Street and High Street have been put up for sale by Cheltenham Borough Council with unique and interesting ideas being sought to bring the building back into use.

The town centre building has stood vacant for several years and requires full refurbishment or redevelopment, with the council keen to see proposals that bring some design flair to the site.

Located in a prominent position near the Brewery Quarter and the town's main retail area, the 50 metres squared building is now available for offers over £65,000 plus VAT for a new long term 150-year lease, without any restrictions on its use.

The council says the site presents an exciting opportunity for developers and businesses and has the potential to be transformed into an ‘innovative landmark’ that will help improve the townscape.

Councillor Peter Jeffries, cabinet member for finance and assets, said: 'We’re offering an exciting opportunity to take a disused, unattractive building that is no longer fit for purpose and create something niche that will really add something positive to this part of the High Street.

'We’re keen to hear from businesses and individuals with interesting proposals to bring it back into use.'
