Gloucestershire independent school Wycliffe College has appointed a 'highly valued' member of its community as its new prep school headteacher.
Becky Hanson – a familiar face at Wycliffe Prep having worked there for 15 years in key leadership roles, including head of year and head of English – takes up the headteacher role at the start of the next school year in September 2026.
With experience in helping to prepare pupils for their transition to senior school, Becky becomes head at an exciting time of change for Wycliffe, with years 7 and 8 set to become part of the senior school from September 2027, with a view to providing an 'enhanced educational journey' for pupils.
Christian San José, head of Wycliffe College, said he was 'delighted' to announce Becky’s appointment.
'Becky has already made a significant contribution to our community over the last 15 years and brings a unique perspective, having worked closely with pupils at this important stage of their education', he said.
'She is a passionate educator and someone who understands what makes Wycliffe special. Becky combines a deep commitment to pupil wellbeing with high expectations and a clear vision for the future. I know she will provide stability and thoughtful leadership for the Prep School as we enter this new chapter.'
Becky said: 'Having worked with our pupils and families for a number of years, I have seen first-hand the warmth, ambition and sense of community that make Wycliffe such a special place.
'It is a school where children are encouraged to be curious, confident and compassionate, where every individual is known and valued, and where pupils develop the character, resilience and love of learning that will support them throughout their lives.
'I am excited to work with colleagues, pupils and parents as Wycliffe prepares to enter this new chapter and build on its many strengths, fostering curiosity, creativity and a pioneering spirit, while helping every child realise their full potential and develop a strong sense of their place in the world.'
