Help to shape the future of Gloucestershire’s £1 billion tourism sector

Businesses and residents are being called upon to help Visit Gloucestershire draw up its Together Gloucestershire strategy for a successful, long term, post pandemic recovery for the tourism sector.

‘What will our visitor economy look like post COVID-19?’ is what Visit Gloucestershire is calling ‘the golden question’ – and it wants you to help find the rights answers.

Launched last year to give a joined-up approach to tourism across Gloucestershire, the organisation has now been funded by the county council to produce a comprehensive tourism strategy it is calling Together Gloucestershire.

With plans to publish the document in March 2021, Visit Gloucestershire needs feedback urgently and has launched two surveys – one aimed at businesses and one at residents.

‘The process of preparing to re-open is starting already and we want to be ready. The reason this is a three-year strategy is we want to make sure it is it is not just about recovery – it is also about the longer term,’ said Steve Gardner-Collins, chairman of Visit Gloucestershire.

‘We want to hear from businesses because they are the ones affected, but we also want to hear from residents because they are the ones who live here and work here too. This about working together.’

According to the partnership organisation, which is also supported by local enterprise partnership, GFirst LEP, and local authorities county-wide, the hard-hit Gloucestershire tourism industry was worth of £1billion per annum prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Visit Gloucestershire Partnership is working with specialist independent tourism experts Tomorrow's Tourism to support the development of a new countywide strategy, all aimed at helping the visitor economy and tourism sector to bounce back after COVID-19.
