Hatherley Manor Hotel and Spa, a 17th-century former manor house in Down Hatherley near Gloucester, heads towards a greener future in 2025 with a huge installation of solar panels to fully power its facilities.

The four-star hotel also installed electric vehicle charging points in its car park and removed single-use plastic from its bedrooms.

With a view to working towards a total reliance on renewable energy to power the hotel and spa facilities, Hatherley Manor has been recognised for its green efforts, receiving the Greengage ECOsmart 2024 Silver Award, which recognises work to minimise environmental impact and promote responsible hospitality in the sector.

Outside in the grounds, the hotel's 37 acres are undergoing an 'ambitious' rewilding project, creating habits for wildlife and helping to 'restore a natural ecosystem' to the outdoor space.

Five beehives have also been installed on the grounds, to help encourage a bee population and support local biodiversity.

Will Wellon, general manager at Hatherley Manor Hotel and Spa, said: 'Our vision is clear: the future of luxury hospitality must be sustainable.

'We are proud to lead by example, demonstrating that environmental responsibility and five-star guest experiences can go hand in hand.'
