Two short comedy films by Gloucestershire-based comedy writer Miranda Walker premiere on BBC iPlayer this September 2021.

Miranda Walker was one of twelve deaf, neurodivergent and disabled professional artists commissioned to produce new shows for the BBC this summer.

FACE IT, two 15-minute filmed comedy drama monologues, written by Miranda Walker and executive producer Michaela Hennessy-Vass, will be released on BBC iPlayer on Thursday 2 September 2021.

The episodes ‘Abbey’ and ‘Leonie’ reveal how two women feel about their face in the modern, swipe-right world and the unexpected impact of wearing face coverings during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Annoyed with her ageing let-down of a face, Abbey – played by British actress Abigail Cruttenden who has previously starred in Midsomer Murders, Benidorm, and Fresh Meat – has had enough of being overlooked and is hell-bent on gaining a promotion.

Abigail Cruttenden said: ‘I loved the ideal of the whole FACE IT project and as a woman, in a renowned ageist industry, the subject matter hugely appealed to me.

‘Miranda’s brilliant script buoyed us up. It was a great team and a great challenge.’

FACE IT is available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Thursday 2 September 2021.
