Gloucester Cathedral welcomes members of the royal family for a special service on Monday 8 May 2023.

The Princess Royal will attend a special service of thanksgiving at Gloucester Cathedral on Monday 8 May 2023, as part of the many celebrations taking place across Gloucestershire for the King's Coronation throughout the bank holiday weekend.

The service will commemorate the special occasion, while giving thanks to the countless volunteers who dedicate their time to good causes throughout Gloucestershire.

As part of 'The Big Help Out', a nationwide initiative that aims to raise awareness of the impact of volunteering throughout the UK, Princess Anne, along with her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, will meet key volunteers at the service who give up their free time to help others in Gloucester City, the county and the diocese.

From school governors, hospital drivers and cathedral workers to churchwardens and scout leaders, volunteers will be thanked by the community for their hard work and generosity.

The service will take place in the historic cathedral from 11am on bank holiday Monday 8 May 2023.

Members of the public are invited to attend this special service, too, and are advised to register in advance via the Gloucester Cathedral website.
