The Everyman Theatre is live streaming The Ugly Duckling to children's hospitals and care homes this December 2023.

Bringing a bit of festive cheer to poorly kids and elderly people in the run-up to Christmas, the Everyman Theatre will be live streaming The Ugly Duckling to hospitals and care homes across the country.

For the fifth year in a row, the Everyman Theatre's festive live stream will give those who can't physically go to the theatre the magical experience of a live performance, broadcast live from the Everyman’s Irving Studio Theatre on Wednesday 13 December 2023 at 10am.

Local hospitals taking part include Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester and Charlton Lane Hospital in Cheltenham, with hospitals across the country including Worcestershire Royal Hospital; Bristol Royal Hospital for Children; Great Western Hospital in Swindon; Hereford County Hospital; Birmingham Children's Hospital and Leeds Children's Hospital also seeing the action beamed live from Cheltenham.

Several care homes including Order of St Johns Trust; Wentworth Court; and Cheltenham and Gloucester Charities Trust home are also involved too.

To make it feel as if the audience watching are actually in the theatre, the actors will say hello to all the people watching. And, as an added special touch, hospitals have also received hand-knitted farmyard animals made by the Everyman Theatre’s knitting group, Casting On, too.

Described as a heart-warming show, The Ugly Duckling sees Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale brought vividly to life in a new adaptation for children aged three to seven and their families, being performed in the comfort of the Everyman's intimate Irving Studio until Saturday 30 December 2023, for more information visit everymantheatre.org.uk
