Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2019 will come alive with almost 70 free gigs and events at pubs, bars and parks across Cheltenham, as part of the popular …around town programme.

Taking place as a core part of this year’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival line-up, from Wednesday 1 to Monday 6 May 2019, the …around town events programme is organised in conjunction with Cheltenham Bid and offers the chance to soak-up free entertainment across Cheltenham.

The Free Stage in Montpellier Gardens is at the heart of the Jazz Festival, and is described as the best place to relax between events. Hear some of the best acts from across the country and enjoy the food stalls and bars, and hopeful warm weather, from 5.30pm on Thursday 2 May right the way through to 7.45pm on Monday 6 May 2019.

Elsewhere, the Cambray Place Stage provides a prime opportunity to get a glimpse of future stars, on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May 2019, from 12pm to 5.45pm.

A day of great music, as well as outdoor food and drink, is on offer The Brewery Quarter Stage on Sunday 5 May 2019, from 1pm to 6.45pm. With the Brewery Quarter’s Cosy Club also hosting three nights of free music from Ben Cipolla and The Nouvelle House Band on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With a special Speakeasy on the Sunday at The Botanist too.

The Lucky Onion’s No. 131 is offering a special food menu during the Jazz Festival and two free late-night sets from DJ Sam Redmore on Thursday 3 May 2019 and Alchemical with Aisling Iris on Sunday 5 May 2019, both from 10.30pm. There’s also more late-night sounds at sister venue The Tavern on the Friday and Sunday, from 10.30pm.

SoGlos’s SGGLA pub of the year The Bottle of Sauce has live events all weekend including two free gigs, a Tropical Tea Party takeover with The Fontanas on Saturday 4 May 2019 and a set from beatboxer SK Shlomo on Sunday 5 May 2019, both from 9pm.

Plus, gigs can also be enjoyed at a number of other Cheltenham venues including SoGlos’s SGGLA bar of the year John Gordons, Harry Cook Free House, The Strand, Smokey Joe’s and The Fire Station, while longstanding Festival late-night jam sessions at Hotel du Vin keep the jazz party going until the small hours of the morning.

For families, Jazz Puddles – magical sound installations by artist Mike Blow – can be found in the Festival Village, The Brewery Quarter and The Promenade throughout the Jazz Festival. With free musical hands-on sessions for all ages in the Yamaha Discovery Space and The Chatterbox also in the Festival Village.

Finally, a display of archive gems and photographs from iconic BBC show Jazz 625 will be on show at Cheltenham Ladies’ College Parabola Arts Centre foyer from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 May 2019.
