The Beatrix Potter-inspired Hollywood film Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is on Gloucestershire cinemas’ big screens from Wednesday 19 May 2021 – and sees the fluffy hero running away to Gloucester!

Cinemagoers of all ages will be able to catch the fluffy action at cinemas including Cineworld Cheltenham, Cineworld Gloucester, the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury, Vue Stroud and Studio Cinema Coleford.

As well as being central to the storyline, filming also took place in the city of Gloucester. With the official Sony Entertainment Pictures trailer for Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway seen below, also showing scenes of Gloucester Docks at 1.20.

Starring Rose Byrne as Bea and Domhnall Gleeson as Mr McGregor, as well as featuring the voices of James Corden as Peter Rabbit and Margot Robbie as Flopsy Rabbit, the family adventure sees Peter embark on adventures outside of the garden for the first time, as he tries to shake his mischievous reputation – including plotting a heist at Gloucester farmers’ market!

Delayed because of the pandemic, the feature film has been released in time for families to enjoy during the May half term holidays.

IMdb lists filming locations for Peter Rabbit 2 as primarily in Australia, as well as Richmond in the UK, but with historic ties to Beatrix Potter’s Tailor of Gloucester, it is a real coup for the city of Gloucester to be so key to the storyline of a major Hollywood film.
