New openings are filling Gloucester Food Dock fast.

It's been a busy, buzzy time at the £3.5 million Gloucester Food Dock with a host of new openings.

And now two new faces are about to reveal their latest venues — a cafe offering from Hetty’s Place and cocktails galore at Our House from Sibling Distillery.

Hetty’s Place is serving up a menu of brunch food items, coffees and brownies, along with a selection of other baked treats.

Owner Henrietta Kitt said: 'Building Hetty’s Place is one of the most ambitious things I’ve ever done since starting my first business back in 2011.'

Her first business, Hetty’s Tea Party was launched at Gloucester Docks 12 years ago in her flat in the Barge Arm, opposite Gloucester Food Dock.

She has successfully grown her business over the years but this new venture is a big leap forward in her business strategy.

Kitt aims to provide a menu with a nourishing ethos that acknowledges the fact sometimes people eat for their body and sometimes they eat to satisfy emotional cravings.

She said: 'I'm creating food that 'feeds your feels'. Nostalgic foods connect to your feelings, but we want to serve them with a bit of a twist, to create new memories and new experiences.'

Just across The Deck, Our House is opening from midday on Saturday 2 December 2023.

Serving a curated list of affordable wines and cocktails, which will rotate each month, the new cocktail and wine bar will not only specialise in gin but diversify into a list that pays homage to classics while regularly offering a selection of new recipes to try.

The origins of the name 'Our House' come from cherished memories of growing up.

Owner Cicely Elliott-Berry said: 'Growing up in a big family of six children, with two entrepreneurial and creative parents, we had a lot of fun and were rarely without guests. It was always lively, and the door was always open and that is the mood we aim to achieve in Our House.'

Filled with restored vintage furniture Our House will highlight great, local products, via bistro-styled table service, whilst also hosting wines from across the globe.

Her brother Felix Elliott-Berry added: 'We can't wait to show people that drinking great wine is accessible for everyone. We know beer, we know gin and we've spent the last few years educating ourselves on the world of wine, so sharing that knowledge is something we're very excited about.'

The duo will host regular wine tastings, food pairing events and cocktail evenings.
