Join Team Sue Ryder to run the new Gloucester Half Marathon or 10k, raising vital funds for the county's only in-patient palliative care unit, Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

The charity behind Gloucestershire's only in-patient palliative care unit, Sue Ryder, is the official charity partner for the new Gloucester Half Marathon and 10k — challenging runners to go the distance for its expert and compassionate palliative care and bereavement support.

Entries are now open for people to join the Sue Ryder running team and help the charity raise vital funds so it can continue to be there for families when it matters.

The event, organised by RunThrough, will see hundreds of participants race through the city and surrounding suburbs on Sunday 31 March 2024, following a circular route that starts and finishes at Gloucester Park.

Choose to tackle 10k or 13.1 miles and set off on a scenic course that passes through the city centre, around iconic landmark Gloucester Cathedral, before heading into the suburbs along a closed road circuit, taking runners along the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal path

Whether you're looking to push yourself out your comfort zone, score a new PB or simply seize the opportunity to run a brand-new course in 2024, it promises to be an unmissable event in the UK's running calendar.

Service director at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, Elise Hoadley, said: 'Support through events like this are so important to us to raise money for families needing our care, and awareness of the expert and compassionate services we provide to people in Gloucester, and across the county. From our Sue Ryder hospice near Cheltenham, to people in their own home, as well as bereavement support to loved ones including from our new Grief Kind Spaces in Gloucester and Cheltenham.'

Early bird entries for a Sue Ryder charity place costs £10 for the half marathon, with a £200 fundraising target, or £5 for the 10k with a fundraising target of £150.
