The season of goodwill is finally upon us – and Christmas shoppers can spread some extra festive love in the run-up to the big day by supporting local high streets and independent traders in the Cotswolds.

Whether you’re a last-minute gift buyer or your Christmas shopping is well underway, there are plenty of ways to support independent traders and high street favourites this November and December 2021 – from taking advantage of late-night shopping to soaking up the festive atmosphere at Christmas markets, where local craftspeople showcase their wares.

There’s also a fabulously festive line-up of Christmas events to experience across the Cotswold district, with the return of Cirencester’s popular Advent Market; Stow-on-the-Wold’s enchanting Christmas Tree Festival; and Fairford’s annual Festive Market, to name a few.

Meanwhile, families visiting Tetbury can tie-in their shopping trip with a visit to the nearby Westonbirt Arboretum for its ever-popular Enchanted Christmas, or head to Cotswold Farm Park in Guiting Power, where the Enchanted Light Trail provides a magical experience.

Cotswold District Council is committed to supporting its local towns and villages this Christmas 2021 by encouraging consumers to pay a festive visit to its high streets.

And while there’s still a risk of catching or passing on Covid-19, visitors can take easy and effective actions to protect themselves and others – such as wearing face coverings, avoiding crowds wherever possible and getting plenty of fresh air.
