Dean Heritage Centre

Dean Heritage Centre is a cultural hub and family attraction, dedicated to telling the history of the Forest of Dean.

Spanning five acres, Dean Heritage Centre explores history, arts, crafts and culture in a stunning setting, ideal for family days out in the Forest of Dean.

Boasting activities for all-weathers, visitors can step back in time and discover the area’s heritage through indoor and outdoor exhibitions – including its five museum galleries that span pre-historic times to the Second World War; reconstructed Forester’s Cottage; replica free mine; and Victorian School Classroom, where children can experience what life was like for pupils through fun role play.

There’s also the chance to wander the woods with a brave mouse in search of the famous Gruffalo, while the centre hosts regular arts and crafts demonstrations and seasonal events throughout the year, too.

Dean Heritage Centre also offers a rainy day guarantee, meaning that families can come back for free if they are unable to experience the whole site due to heavy rain or flooding.
