SLG brands has opened a new factory in Cheltenham, creating 20 jobs, as it brings manufacturing of its globally-patented tanning mitts back in-house.
Its new subsidiary company, V3 Mitt Manufacturing, produces tanning mitts for big brands like St Tropez and Vita Liberata, as well as SLG’s own Velvotan range, which is distributed globally.
Described as ‘the original self-tanning mitt’, the product was invented by SLG co-founder Graham Dunkley 20 years ago and has three global patents. The mitts were manufactured in Gloucester until 2018, when SLG sold its manufacturing division to focus on brand building and subcontracted production.
In 2020, SLG decided to bring production of its tanning mitts back in-house, in order to fast-track product innovation, quality and scale up for growing demand in America.
The move meant creating 20 new Gloucestershire jobs at the V3 factory at Lansdown Industrial Estate in Cheltenham – which started production on Monday 4 January 2021.
Despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, SLG is showing signs of growth and is said to be also launching three new brands later in 2021.
