From unique flavours and plant-based pints to crazy sundaes and goat’s milk gelatos, SoGlos has scooped up nine of Gloucestershire’s best places to enjoy an ice cream in the sunshine.

Wholly Gelato

Since opening in 2018, Wholly Gelato has grown to become one of the most popular ice cream producers in Gloucestershire, serving scoops of handmade gelato from its farm in Elmore — where you can also meet the dairy cows that provide the milk for its unique recipe!

Grab a cone or stock up on tubs, with an ever-changing range of flavours including caramelised nut chocolate, white chocolate lavender and even chocolate marmite — also available as creamy milkshakes!

Cherry Moo Ice Cream

Selling its luxury ice cream online, sweet tooths can order a midweek pick-me-up from Cherry Moo Ice Cream, with its tubs available for home delivery or collection from Quedgeley.

With up to 21 flavours to lure you in, the award-winning company sells everything from lemon curd to peanut butter fudge and birthday cake flavour. Its ice cream is also available from the Over Farm Market, if you need to satisfy your cravings pronto!

Bertie's Ice Cream

Another award-winning creamery, Bertie's Ice Cream in Stroud received two sought-after accolades in the 2023 Great Taste awards — with its sea salted caramel taking home gold.

Made by hand in the Cotswold hills, the team uses fresh local ingredients to create a range of flavours including Belgian chocolate, vanilla bean, honeycomb crunch and much more.

Winstones Ice Cream

If you’re looking for an ice cream parlour with a view, make a beeline for Winstones Ice Cream perched on the edge of Rodborough Common — a picturesque National Trust site near Stroud.

This award-winning, family-run business has been making ice cream for more than 100 years and serves up to 17 flavours, including dairy-free ice creams and sorbets, which can be devoured in-situ or bought to take home. With doggy ice creams available for four-legged friends, too!

The Ice Cream Cottage

Tewkesbury’s dessert and ice cream takeaway parlour, The Ice Cream Cottage, offers a range of delightful soft-serve trays and sundaes in flavours such as Biscoff, Twix blondie and Jammie Dodgers.

Open Tuesday through to Sunday, it also has a great range of vegan and gluten free options, so there’s something to please everybody on a sunny day!

Oh My Goat Gelato

Oh My Goat Gelato specialises in goat's milk gelato, made with premium milk from its very own herd of happy and healthy goats.

Based in Mitcheldean, the ice cream company produces all kinds of delicious flavours such as salted caramel brownie, raspberry ripple and mint Stracciatella — with specials and flavours changing frequently throughout the year.

Jolly Nice Farm Shop

Scooping up every flavour from banoffee and espresso to Madagascan vanilla and peanut butter, ice cream enthusiasts can beat the heat with a Jolly Nice ice cream.

Made from the purest ingredients, these tasty ice creams are exclusively sold at the Jolly Nice Farm Shop and cafe in Frampton Mansell — and can be picked up through its quirky drive-through.

Dolcetti

With 24 flavours spanning gelato, sorbet and frozen yoghurt, Cirencester-based Dolcetti has plenty to tempt you, from fruity creations to utterly decadent chocolate delights.

Visit the parlour to see production in process, with the chance to watch this family-run business craft its artisan gelato from locally sourced ingredients. It serves dog-friendly ice cream for four-legged visitors, too!

Clementine Cafe

Clementine Cafe in Cheltenham is paving the way with its unique flavours and combinations of Milkbar artisan gelato — whether a shot of white rum and coconut gelato tickles your fancy or you’d prefer to cleanse your palate with a cooling watermelon sorbet.

Customers can also treat themselves to a flavoursome milkshake, decadent dessert or tasty brunch from the cafe, while Montpellier Gardens is nearby for enjoying your ice cream out in the sunshine.
