BBC presenter Steve Knibbs to host SGGBA and SGGLA

We can now make it official – BBC presenter and well-known face of Gloucestershire, Steve Knibbs, will host this year’s SoGlos lifestyle awards and its brand-new county business awards.

Steve Knibbs, the well-known BBC regional news reporter and presenter will host this year’s inaugural SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards and the fourth annual SoGlos Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards.

Steve, who has been a face of BBC Points West for more than 15 years, will host the business awards on Thursday 9 September 2021, at Weston Aviation’s private hangar at Gloucestershire Airport.

And on Thursday 21 October 2021, he will return to the spotlight at Cheltenham Ladies’ College to reveal the winners of the ever-popular SGGLA event.

Steve said: ‘Gloucestershire’s businesses never fail to surprise me – from our huge engineering firms to small family businesses – there is so much going on.

‘The opportunity to celebrate that and shout about what is being produced in the county is needed now more than ever.’

When he steps up to the microphone at the business awards he will be helping the county do just that – celebrate some of its very best companies, their achievements, their staff and the individuals who lead them.

Some 421 nominations from more than 190 companies were received across 17 categories for SGGBA, made possible by headline sponsors GFirst LEP and The Growth Hub.

For those unable to be there on the night, SoGlos will be revealing the winners on LinkedIn and Twitter as they happen, and online thereafter to a monthly combined audience of 261,000.

As well as the individual sponsors for each award, partners for also include Oasis Events, SLX, Neptune Rum, Wild Pizza Co, the Gloucestershire Magician and artisan ice cream maker Flurry Puffin.

Winners were decided by a panel of experts, including leading figures from each of the sponsors.

While a shortlist of entries was revealed for the Willans LLP solicitors-sponsored SGGLA in July, and winners will be decided by a public vote – which remains underway until Friday 17 September 2021.

SGGLA is the definitive awards of its kind, recognising and celebrating the very best lifestyle sector businesses in and around Gloucestershire.
