The judging for this year's SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards is underway, with the shortlisted businesses due to be revealed at the end of June 2023.

Entries from more than 150 Gloucestershire businesses across 21 categories are in — and the judges have now been tasked with compiling the shortlist to go forward to vie for honours in the SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards 2023.

Nominations opened for what is now Gloucestershire’s premiere business awards at the start of March 2023, with entries immediately pouring in from companies of all shapes and sizes from all across the county.

In partnership with Willans LLP and Hazlewoods, SGGBA 2023 features 21 categories and the coveted headline award, the SoGlos Gloucestershire Business of the Year.

James Fyrne, managing director of and co-founder of SoGlos, which is now Gloucestershire's most successful independent media brand, said: ‘When we first started these awards just three years ago, to build on the success of our lifestyle awards, we were overwhelmed with the interest from businesses.

‘This year, the calibre of entries and eclectic mix of companies has continued to impress us. The difficult task has now begun of whittling those down into the shortlist, which we will reveal on Wednesday 21 June 2023.’

Michelle Fyrne, group editor and co-founder of the Cheltenham-headquartered firm, said: ‘We would like to say a really big 'thank you' to everyone who has entered this year.

'We know this is a nerve-racking time for the businesses that are waiting to see if they have made the cut this year — and we know our judges have an incredibly difficult task to draw up the shortlist.

‘But for us, this is where the excitement really starts. We can’t wait to begin to talk and write about those companies and meet them at the drinks reception we throw for them and the sponsors on Tuesday 18 July 2023 at Still Moving Media’s incredible studio in Bishops Cleeve.’

The judging panel, which is made up of representatives from the sponsors of each of the awards, reconvenes at Malmaison Cheltenham on Wednesday 13 September 2023 to make the decision everyone is waiting for — who the finalists will be — with the big reveal taking place on Friday 15 September 2023.

Then there's just over a month to enjoy the attention and prepare for the awards night itself on Thursday 19 October 2023 at Gloucester South Community Fire Station in Tuffley, Gloucester.

Sponsors of the individual awards include Montrose Group, Hartpury University and Hartpury College, GFirst LEP, QuoLux, Ecotricity, Six Property Consulting, MKM, Invest in Gloucestershire, University of Gloucestershire, GB Solutions, ReformIT, Hewer FM, Gloucestershire County Council, Ontic, Gloucestershire College, Cleevely Electric VehiclesNimble, 16i, HR Star, Workplace Interiors Co, Vitruvius.
