Gloucester Cathedral is a festive destination for thousands of visitors every year and while Christmas is going to be different in 2020, the team are determined to continue spreading comfort and joy – by bringing the Cathedral to you, with the launch of its new Digital Advent Calendar.

Visit gloucestercathedral.org.uk to see Gloucester Cathedral’s daily-updated Digital Advent Calendar.

Running from Tuesday 1 to Thursday 24 December 2020, every day a short video will be released across Gloucester Cathedral’s website, social media platforms, and YouTube channel – each led by an individual connected to the Christian mission of Gloucester Cathedral.

Expect to see videos from Gloucester Cathedral’s choirs, clergy, community partners and other local charities – sharing an insight into some of the people who make Gloucester Cathedral the beacon of hope that it is.

Highlights are expected to include Gloucester Cathedral’s streamed Online Christmas celebration service on Sunday 20 December 2020 and Online Carols, Anthems and Readings service on Wednesday 23 December 2020.

The Digital Advent Calendar videos will all offer a festive activity to take part in, ranging from arts and crafts to spiritual reflections to outdoor challenges, which organisers say are intended to bring you a little bit of ‘comfort and joy’ in line with the message from the Church of England this year.

The Gloucester Cathedral team are also encouraging people to share their responses to each activity with photos on social media using the hashtags #FromYourCathedralToYou and #ComfortAndJoy or by emailing ellie.fells@gloucestercathedral.org.uk.
