Franco Manca's Cheltenham restaurant is closing permanently on Sunday 17 May 2026.
The pizza restaurant on Cheltenham’s Promenade is one of 16 Franco Manca sites closing across the UK, as part of a national restructuring of the business.
Located at 33-40 The Promenade, the Cheltenham pizzeria opened in March 2022, taking over the former Café Rouge unit and becoming Franco Manca’s first Gloucestershire restaurant.
Known for its Neapolitan-style sourdough pizzas, the restaurant has occupied a prominent spot in the town centre for just over four years.
Its closure comes after Franco Manca’s parent company, The Fulham Shore, pursued a company voluntary arrangement, with creditors approving plans to close a minority of restaurants across the UK.
The Cheltenham branch has been named among the 16 closing sites, alongside Battersea, Bishop’s Stortford, Brixton, Broadway Market, Bromley, Chiswick, Didsbury, Glasgow, Hove, Kilburn, Lincoln, New Oxford Street, Plymouth, Stoke Newington and Tottenham Court Road.
While the closures mark a significant shake-up for the pizza chain, Franco Manca is not disappearing entirely. The business was operating around 70 restaurants before the restructuring, meaning dozens of sites are expected to remain open once the 16 closures are complete – with the nearest locations to Gloucestershire including Bristol, Bath and Oxford.
One of the most notable closures is Brixton, the London area where Franco Manca first launched in 2008, before growing into a national restaurant brand.
While more than 225 jobs are expected to be lost during the restructuring, the company has publicly said the CVA will help it focus on its remaining restaurants and put the business on a firmer footing.
Franco Manca Cheltenham confirmed the final day of trading will be Sunday 17 May 2026 in a newsletter sent to customers on Tuesday 12 May 2026. It is not yet known what will replace the restaurant on Cheltenham's Promenade.
