One of Gloucestershire’s oldest and finest entertainment venues, Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre has teamed up with Gloucester Brewery to create a bespoke craft lager — exclusively available at the theatre.
Originally discussed when both venues were crowned joint Venue of the Year winners in the Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards, the Everyman Theatre staff pitched together to come up with some initial name suggestions for the new brew.
Once they had organised a shortlist, spanning: 'Full House', coined to be as lively as a packed theatre on opening night; 'Curtain Call', the perfect final sip, deserving of a standing ovation; 'Spotlight', taking centre stage with a taste that’s unforgettable; as well as 'Upstaged', described as a 'brew with a touch of drama, always stealing the show', the team put it to the public to vote for their favourite.
'Upstaged' — which has now officially been crowned the winner — is a four and a half per cent craft lager which provides revellers with a clean, crisp and dry pint, whether you're enjoying a drink before, during or after one of the venue's world-class productions.
Millie Bell, Cafe Everyman catering manager, said: 'We’re thrilled to partner with Gloucester Brewery on 'Upstaged!'—a crisp, refreshing lager that fits in perfectly in our theatre bars.
'This partnership is all about celebrating creativity and community at every step, even allowing our team and customers to choose the name! We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy a taste of something local and special.'
If you’re attending a performance or just want to enjoy a relaxing drink or bite to eat in Cheltenham town centre, The Cafe Bar is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5pm, as well as before performances and during show intervals, offering a selection of drinks, snacks and hot or cold meals.
