A popular chain of Irish taverns is set to open a new venue in Cheltenham in 2026.
Bringing the craic to The Brewery Quarter, Katie O'Brien's has applied for a premises license from Cheltenham Borough Council with a view to opening later this year.
Taking over the unit currently home to Son of Steak, following the end of a 10-year tenancy for Mitchells & Butlers, The Brewery Quarter says it will 'inject fresh energy' into the dining and leisure destination.
Katie O'Brien's promises 'non-stop live music, great craic and endless pints of Guinness', as well as big-screen sports, and has 12 locations across the West Midlands and the north of England, with the new Cheltenham venue being its first in the south west.
A spokesperson for the brand said: 'We're thrilled to be bringing Katie O'Brien's to Cheltenham and joining The Brewery Quarter. As a premium destination in the south west, The Brewery Quarter offers a fantastic mix of leisure, retail and hospitality operators alongside an established visitor base, making it the perfect fit for our brand.
'We see significant potential in the location and are excited to invest in the venue, become part of the local community and bring our unique Irish tavern experience to both residents and visitors alike.'
Nikki Kontarines from Martin Commercial Properties, which manages The Brewery Quarter, said: 'Katie O'Brien's is exactly the kind of operator we wanted to attract. The brand is known for creating welcoming, high-energy venues that draw customers throughout the day and well into the evening.
'We're delighted to welcome them to The Brewery Quarter and are confident they'll bring a fantastic new dimension to this part of the scheme.'
The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Siren Craft Brew is taking over the former BrewDog bar at The Brewery Quarter.
In its licensing application, Katie O'Brien's has requested a license enabling the sale of alcohol from 10am to 2am, but its official opening date and hours of operating are yet to be confirmed.
SoGlos will share the latest updates as they're revealed.
