So I’m having a bit of an art sale! ?? In May I had a big watercolour painting session and created what I’m calling The Lockdown Collection? These paintings are all inspired by the rolling Cotswolds landscape and the farm I grew up on, and were a way for me to try and stay connected to the beautiful countryside of Gloucestershire during lockdown ?? The majority are brightly coloured and will hopefully fill you with positivity and motivation to get through the next chapter of life, whatever that may bring. I’ll post all of the paintings up on my Instagram story tomorrow for sale. £35 for an original, £45 if you would like it framed + postage. You can see all the pieces available on my @ske_tchbook account. If you’d like to reserve any please let me know before tomorrow. Any questions please just ask :) @bricklanegallery

When we heard that one of our favourite restaurants @kibousushi_cheltenham was reopening for collection we jumped on the chance to get a slot. We have loved having the time to be more adventurous with our cooking at home but find it hard to recreate quality sushi. We managed to resist diving straight in for long enough to take a few snaps. The cha sui ramen smelt incredible from the moment we got it in the car. The soft shell crab bao bun was the most pillowy I have ever had but I have to say my dish of the day was this chirashizushi which was a generous bowl of seasoned rice, mixed sashimi, tamago and avocado. Yum yum ?? so pleased to have sushi back in our lives! #sushi #ramen #kimchi #chickenkaraage #inthistogetherglos #restaurantathome #instafood #sashimi #baobuns #cotswoldfoodblog #lockdownfood

As a family photographer, I have postponed my photoshoots until after lockdown. I had considered offering doorstep photos in Cheltenham in exchange for a voluntary donation to the NHS, but hadn’t felt that the time was right until very recently. But on our daily exercise today, my heart was utterly warmed by the wonderful sight that I saw in our neighbourhood. The sound of people chatting, friends being made and glasses being charged. There were gramophones and guitars being played, cake being offered out within a safe distance even a change into black ties for dinner. All in our front gardens. And then it dawned on me. Capturing joy is the very thing that drives my work. And here it was in abundance. We were all elated at allowing ourselves a tiny slice of normality and respectful socialisation. This was a big moment in our history and I felt compelled to document it. We don’t tend to sit in our front gardens in this country. But on this day, tea parties are thrown together with pride in our front gardens. We felt joy on the streets as we chattered to our neighbours for the first time in weeks. That freedom which so many fought for 75 years ago, was somehow understood and felt in our hearts more this year than ever before in our generation. I spoke to many lovely neighbours for the first time, including a surgeon and a doctor and asked for their portraits in exchange for a voluntary contribution to the NHS (well actually I’ll let the doctor and the surgeon off). It was like a breath of fresh air and a VE celebration like no other.. More photos on my blog link in bio

Today we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, marking the end of WWII, when guns finally fell silent over Europe. ???????????????????????????????????????????? We salute the unimaginable courage of the brave young men who fought for our country and the sacrifice of the heartbroken women and children who they left behind. ?????????????????????? Looking for "Lady Butts" again today ???? How are you filling your days at the moment? . . So far we've dug a pond, levelled out the top of our garden in preparation for a play area for the kids and planning on painting our hallway. It's natural when we're feeling anxious to feel the desire for a 'project' or two or three. It's all about trying to take back some control during a situation we have no control over. It can be a scary feeling, that feeling like there is nothing much we can do to fix a problem except wait at home, but a project gives us something we do have some control over, something else to focus on and relieve stress. . . Even better is a project we can get the kids involved in. We sometimes forget how much this situation may be effecting them, because we think they can't fully comprehend the severity of what's going on. Subconsciously there will be more of an impact than we realise and projects that can give them a physical and creative outlet for their feelings may go a long way in helping them cope with the current upheavel to their lives. Our kids have loved getting involved in our garden projects. What have you been up to at home? . . #quarantine #mentalhealth #maternalmentalhealth #perinatalmentalhealth #postnatalmentalhealth #postpartummentalhealth #mumsmentalhealth #gloucestershire #cotswolds #cheltenham #cotswoldslife #cotswoldliving #inthistogetherglos

These beautiful paintings inspired by Puzzlewood are by @WatercolourPuddles. We commissioned Julie earlier in the year to create these five Puzzlewood-themed prints after seeing her work and falling love with it. Julie is local to us in the Forest of Dean and produces the most characterful, colourful nature inspired pieces, of animals, birds and woodland creatures all with her own charm and often with a vintage element too. Julie was thrilled to be asked and said “I love quirky and different so I love Puzzlewood for those reasons”. Now finished, the five pieces are entitled: 1. Puzzled Robins 2. Postcard from Puzzlewood 3. Ready for Adventure 4. Bridge to Puzzlewood 5. Puzzlewood’s Banksy Each piece has its own unique little story to tell. The prints have also been made into greetings cards which were all available for sale in our shop just before we had to close. So they'll still be there when we reopen but we thought they were too beautiful to wait to tell you about them! You can also read a lovely blog post and interview with Julie on our website with more information about the five pieces in our new blog post on our website. Which is your favourite? We got a bit wet and muddy on our walk today. It was a shorter one than usual, because the day ran away with us, but it was great to get some fresh air before tea. Today we balanced on logs, climbed trees, played Pooh sticks and explored the banks of a stream. Aside from a LOT of plastic pollution, this is one of our new favourite spots. Today's Mood: Panic Attack . . Since Coronavirus reached the UK and the schools closed, I hadn't been doing too badly. Anxious, of course but I'd been okay, enjoying the sun in the garden, safe in our own little bubble, or so it felt. . . Then lockdown happened, and the messages have increasingly become more serious. More people continue to fall sick, then it reaches your town, it infects people you know. You hear that friends who are vulnerable are high risk are locking themselves away in their rooms and you worry about them. You're told it won't affect healthy adults or children too badly then images of healthy adults and children on ventilators surface on the internet and suddenly my bubble of safety has burst and I'm fearful. Nothing is more terrifying for a parent than the possibility of their child becoming critically ill. . . Today I woke up and something was different. The sun had gone behind the clouds and the anxiety and fear caught up with me I had a panic attack. It happens sometimes. But...I feel better afterward, for it has released some of that built up emotion. Sometimes we try to push our fear and anxiety to the background, to ignore it, but my advice is this acknowledge your feelings and let yourself feel what you're feeling. It's okay to be fearful, it's okay to be anxious, it's okay to be worried. Feel it, talk about it, breathe, and move on. Take it easy, rest, curl up under a blanket for awhile, I am. . . Sending love xx . . #mentalwellbeing #mentalhealth #maternalmentalhealth #perinatalmentalhealth #postnatalmentalhealth #maternalmentalhealth #mumsmentalhealth #mumlife #gloucestershire #cotswolds #cotswoldlife #cheltenhamlife #cheltenham #inthistogetherglos

A message from Jolly Nice: We have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close our Coffee Counter and Service Kitchen whilst the Farmshop and Butchery remain open for your essential food shopping. We need to ensure that our working and shopping environment are as safe as possible for our team, customers and the wider community. How we are trying to help you: ??We have daily deliveries from many small local suppliers and have our wide range of produce ??We're restricting access across Jolly Nice - the paddock and yurts are closed, 2m distance must be observed and a maximum of 4 customers can go into the Farmshop ??Our chefs are coming up with delicious new ready meals in our kitchens ??We have a new delivery service for over 70's and the self-isolated (Order Form on our website) so they can stay at home. In future we hope to serve more people in this way ??We are open 8am-7pm. Priority for NHS Staff & Volunteers, Health care staff and key workers 8am-9am weekdays and 6pm-7pm weekends How you can help us: ??Shop at quieter times, earlier in the week and in the morning or evening ??Do not visit in groups, no more than 2 people per household ??Wait until you get home before you eat any Jolly Nice goods ??Please do not call to ask about stock levels or to reserve items for you - we're busy ordering, re-stocking and serving ??Please continue to support us as your local Farmshop #thinklocaldrinklocal #jollynicefarmshop #jollynice #supportsmallbusiness #InThisTogetherGlos #supportlocalproduce #farmshop #englishvineyard #englishwine #cotswolds #givethegiftofwine #supportlocalproduce #cellardoor #vineyard #vines #winetasting #womeninwine #gloucestershire #vineyardhobbits #viticulture #winter #instawine #winesofinstagram #vineyard #winelife #winestagram #whitewine #bulari @jollynicefarmshop

Up for a challenge? So who’s up for a bit of fun and distraction and a chance to win a free dry cut when i re open? I’m challenging you all to a heat ‘lock down’ on your your beautiful locks! • I am setting all my clients and friends a challenge to use no heat on their hair for the duration of their isolation! • No hairdryers. No straighteners. No curling. Nada! Just natural texture! • As we won’t be trimming those ends, let’s protect them by giving them a rest from heat. • There are loads of interesting ways to style your hair heat free, from old fashion ragging, to braiding, to sleep in rollers... so why it use the extra time we have, to experiment with our hair, give it a much needed break from heat, and see how it comes out on the other side!! • Please, please tag me in your selfies showing me that real textured hair, either crazy frizz and curls, or pretty heat free styling... use the hashtag #teasylocksonlockdown • My favourite 10 will be getting a free dry cut once I reopen! • Stay home, stay safe, Louise xx • #teasylocksonlockdown #inthistogetherglos
